Who we are
One Perfect Day ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at oneperfectdayblog.net, a collection of jokes, puns, and other light reading. This policy explains what we collect when you visit, why, and the choices you have. The data controller is Alex Nexus Blog, reachable at hallo@oneperfectdayblog.net.
Information we collect
- Votes on jokes. When you tap the heart on a joke, we record that a vote happened. To stop one visitor from voting many times, we store a one way hash computed from your IP address and browser user agent (a SHA-256 value). We do not store your raw IP address in the votes table, and the hash cannot be reversed back into it.
- Likes saved in your browser. Your choices of which jokes you liked are kept in your own browser using local storage. This stays on your device and is not sent to us as an account.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our servers may automatically record standard request data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) for security and to keep the site running. These logs are kept for a limited period.
- Analytics (active) and advertising (planned). We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. We do not run ads yet, but plan to use Google AdSense later. These Google services may set cookies and process personal data such as your IP address and device identifiers. Outside the EEA, UK, and Switzerland analytics may set cookies; inside those regions it runs without consent based cookies until you consent. See our Cookies Policy for details and your choices.
- Messages you send. If you email us, we receive what you send (your email address and the content of your message).
How we use your information
- To run the site and show you the content you request.
- To count votes fairly and show joke rankings.
- To keep the site secure and diagnose problems.
- To measure traffic and, where enabled and permitted, to show advertising.
- To respond to messages you send us.
Legal bases (for visitors in the EEA and UK)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site and counting votes; your consent for non essential cookies such as analytics and advertising; and, for messages, our legitimate interest in replying to you.
Cookies and similar technologies
We describe every cookie and storage item, and how to control them, on our Cookies Policy page. Non essential cookies (analytics and advertising) are only set where you have given consent, and for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland we collect that consent through a Google certified consent tool.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA or UK, you may request access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and you may object to processing or withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. See Your Privacy Choices.
To exercise any right, contact hallo@oneperfectdayblog.net.
Global Privacy Control
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or an extension sends GPC, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and you do not need to do anything else.
Data retention
We keep vote hashes and logs only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or anonymize them. Local storage on your device stays until you clear it.
International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers (such as Google) may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children's privacy
Our content is family friendly, but the site is not directed to children under 13 for the purpose of collecting personal information, and we do not knowingly collect it from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Third parties
We share data only with service providers that help us run the site (for example hosting, analytics, and advertising), and when required by law. We do not sell your personal information for money.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
