Well here we are, my first post of 2014. Happy New Year! What better way to begin the year than with a giveaway? Read on to find out how you could win a $50 Target gift card.
I am so thrilled to be a Target blogger. Each month I share with you the latest and greatest goodies from Target and this time around it’s all about back to school, or in our case, heading to school for the very first time. Doesn’t it seem as though we’ve only just recovered from the mad rush that is Christmas and New Year, when we turn around and already it’s time to start thinking about school supplies? Honestly, I am still in holiday mode. We are enjoying our slow, lazy Summer days too much to be running around to ten different stores looking for supplies. Thankfully, Target had everything we needed – a one stop shop – and we were in an out in no time. For a back-to-school-rookie like me, it was exactly what I needed.
So what did we choose? R’s school specifically told us not to buy any stationery and I tried very very hard to walk past all the cute and colourful bits and pieces, but being the Star Wars fans that we are, how could we not pick up these adorable R2D2 markers for just $2? I know! $2! Then of course we needed something to put them in and this little green monster pencil case was too cute to pass up at just $6.
One item R’s school did advise us to buy was a bag tag. These are so helpful, especially for the younger kids, when all their school bags look the same and they need to identify which one is their own. R chose this pack of two bag tags and he loves them. (There’s clearly a monster theme happening with our back to school supplies!)
Finally, we went a bit crazy in the lunch box department, and yes, more monsters! The Monsters Inc. cooler bag comes with a sandwich sized container inside (not pictured but it is just like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one that you can see on the top right). The cooler bag is so roomy – plenty of space for a lunch box, snack box, yoghurt container, drink bottle and an ice brick. I also love that it sits flat and zips open completely. This is perfect for little ones to give them easy access to everything inside.
There is already a sandwich container inside the cooler bag, but at just $2 for the Ninja Turtles lunch box we decided to add that to our supplies as well. The cute spoon and fork set are one of my favourite finds. They come in their own container so after they’ve been used there won’t be yoghurt or other mess spreading through the cooler bag. They are also small and flat, so they take up almost no space at all. Finally, there was the adorable dinosaur shaped sandwich cutter. Again, this was just $2 and it comes housed in another sandwich container, so we really have it covered when it comes to lunchboxes.
The last pack we selected was a five piece Nude Food Movers set. I love this range and used it for my lunches when I was working in an office (a lifetime ago!). See that ice-brick on the lower left? That’s no ordinary ice brick. It’s a drink bottle. It’s shaped like an ice brick – square and flat for easy packing. Just fill it with your child’s favourite drink and freeze it overnight. It will keep their lunch cool the next day and they can enjoy a cool drink at lunch time.
